Bucephalandra species belong to the group of rheophytes. This group of plants has adapted to more flowing waters such as cascades or even waterfalls. They grow with their roots clinging to stones or roots. This gives them a good hold in strong water currents during the rainy season. Our Bucephandra plants are grown on very porous lava rock and are therefore ideal for a near-natural design. The richly textured lava rocks not only look good, but also provide a very good colonisation area for beneficial bacteria.
