Colorful variety from a cup
The harvested clusters of cells are put into special containers on an artificial nutrient substrate and young plants emerge from them after approx. 6-8 weeks. Many familiar species in aquatics are produced from meristem culture. The popular Cryptocorynes and the new genus Bucephalandra are good examples of this.
Many top sellers, such as Pogostemon helferi, Pogostemon deccanensis, Cryptocorynes, and Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba', have been produced from meristem plants. They all have one thing in common: they are very healthy and vital plants with numerous shoot tips!
