Lobelia cardinalis

Info

The Cardinal Flower is a stem plant from North America. In its emersed state the leaves are a dark olive green with scarlet covering the underside. Submersed plants are light green and the leaves are smaller. The fleshy stems grow very slowly and only reach heights of 10-20 cm under water. Lobelia cardinalis is often used in the “Dutch planting style“. In this style, plants are bedded in larger groups in linear rows and are cultivated to give the impression of a typical flower garden.
