In the tropical climate of our greenhouses, particularly strong plants are lovingly cared for and cultivated over several months until they have grown to XXL size. These "solitaires" are ideally suited for the establishment and design of larger aquariums and give the impression of a lush landscape right from the start.
Hydrocotyle leucocephala is one of the particularly fast-growing plants and is therefore known to prevent algae. A nutrient surplus in the water can be quickly degraded and thus worsen the conditions for algae growth. The water roots on the stems are particularly good at absorbing easily dissolved nutrients. Regular shortening of the shoots results in a dense and magnificent plant bush with fresh, new shoots. Hydrocotyle is also considered a indicator plant - if the leaves are small and yellowish, there is usually a nitrate deficiency, if the leaves are large, mastic and blue-green in color, there is usually a nitrate surplus and thus an increased risk of uncontrolled algae formation.
