The water feather is a graceful plant with pinnate leaves. It has long been known in aquaristics as a well-growing foreground or midground plant. Good lighting and sufficient CO2 are necessary for good growth. For unheated aquariums Hottonia is highly recommended due to its distribution in the temperate climate zone. It is even native to some locations in Germany where it is a protected species. Because of the beautiful slit leaves, the water feather can be placed in a carpet of Hemianthus Cuba or Micranthemum tweediei.
