Here the name refers to the thin, long, submersed leaves. There are also bright patches of color similar to those you would see on a python. Under very good light the new leaves glow an intense red. Nutrient-rich substrate and a good supply of CO2 encourage strong growth. As with most Echinodorus, these plants are most effective when used singly. Care consists of removing older leaves and thinning out the foliage.
