Bucephalandra is an endemic genus of the tropical island Borneo. Most species are small-growing and have become a very popular design plant especially in aqua-scaping. Distinctive feature are their silvery looking spots on the upper side of the leaves. These stomata are more or less pronounced depending on the species. As a rheophyte, it grows best with its root system tied up on wood or stones. A special feature of many Bucephalandra species is their ability to bloom under water. For the smallest aquariums, the root covered with Bucephalandra is recommended - but also in larger aquariums for the foreground perfectly suitable.
