Apart from light, aquatic plants need nutrients, not only nitrogen, potassium, phosphate and trace elements, but also carbon, which is essential for life. This is supplied not only by carbon dioxide in the air, but also by C02, which is produced and carried in natural waters by microorganisms. In our biotope in the living space, however, there is often a lack of CO2, which can usually be seen in the sparse growth.
Plants with a good CO2 supply are vital and show a more intensive colors. Increased oxygen production benefits the fish, shrimps and snails - the aquarium ecosystem in the living space looks more attractive and is more stable.
Dennerle Plants CO2 Starter Kit
The CO2 Starter Kit is a biosystem based on the principle of yeast fermentation. It is a simple and inexpensive solution for small aquariums. A mix containing sugar is fermented in a plastic bottle. This produces CO2, which is introduced into the aquarium. Depending on the room temperature (optimally between 20°C and 25°C), the plants are supplied with CO2 for up to 2 months.
CO2 Starter Kit Art. 31009
Contents: Bio CO2 Bottle, CO2 Powder Mix, CO2 tubing transparent 4/6mm 100cm long, CO2 Diffuser 17mm Membrane 14cm long, 2 Suction Cups, CO2 Activator 5x, Instruction Manual
Quick start:
- Mix Bio C02 powder with 300 ml water and let it rest for 24h.
- Add Bio Activator with 200 ml water.
- Connect the CO2 diffuser to the hose, ready.
Tip: For best results, follow the detailed instructions for use and refill the CO2 Activator every 14 days or when CO2 production has dropped to 5 bubbles per minute.
Dennerle Plants CO2 Starter Refill
CO2 Starter Refill is the refill package for the Bio CO2 system. It allows an additional 60 days of CO2 production as a cost-effective addition of the important nutrient for aquatic plants.

Contents: CO2 Powder Mix, CO2 Activator 5x
Tip: For best results, follow the detailed instructions for use and refill the CO2 Activator every 14 days or when CO2 production has dropped to 5 bubbles per minute.
Dennerle Plants CO2 Diffuser
The CO2 diffuser ensures a particularly fine mist of CO2 in the aquarium water. This allows the gas to be optimally distributed in the water and reach all the plants. An integrated bubble counter below the ceramic disc allows good control of the CO2 bubbles produced. Suitable for 20-200 litre aquariums.
CO2 Diffuser Art. 31011
Contents: CO2 diffuser 17mm membrane 14cm long, 2 suction cups, U-Pipe for 5-10mm glass thickness 5cm long, suitable for 4/6mm tube
Instructions: Before use, we recommend soaking the diffuser in water. This ensures more even CO2 mist and reduces possible noise. The chamber below the membrane can be filled with water and functions as a bubble counter. Pull a suction cup onto the diffuser and connect it to a CO2 hose. The U-pipe supplied prevents the hose from kinking at the edge of the aquarium.
Tip: Use suction cups alternately. If you let a suction cup that has become milky dry, it will become completely transparent again.
